There were film versions in 1912, 1913, 1914, and three versions in 1920 (including F.W. Murnau's name-changed version).
Different languages transcribe the sound cats make differently, but none hear what I hear, which is cats saying F.W. Murnau.
F.W. Murnau's Sunrise is a pretty great film. The dialogue could use some punching up though.
